Intro to Carl Alessi's NSLF Underground Comics

About 1982 as I was well along into the publication of "Siege" the newsletter, one good correspondent named Carl Alessi sent me a large packet of his own hand-drawn comics. I fell in love with these immediately and knew that I had to publish and release them to our mailing list.

Still Using at that time the mimeograph - albeit the best one that money could buy - that I was using to produce "Siege", I recognized that I'd need to change the style of production to accommodate this collection of drawings. I'd need to use legal size paper. A good girlfriend of the time was great at getting for me all the paper I required from the local Mead Paper Mill.

That and a saddle stapler for the binding of what would be the finished booklets. All well and good. (And the trimming. Don't forget the professionally done trimming.)

As with so much from then, from before and even after, it has entered the legend. Timeless in most if not all cases were Carl's comic creations. Which is why we want now to present them to you here. I've had a great deal of fun at all of this, each aspect, but few things provided me with more fun than Carl's comics.

So we now share the fun with you. One very good friend made the comment at the time of the first release of these that some were quite good while others were - in his words - "trash". The commies have dealt a lot in trash with their own propaganda and have done quite well with it, thank you.

I agree with Hitler when he said that he admired their tactics. No prude am I.

So as the Jews themselves might say... Enjoy!
